Went to catch 12 Lotus with mom today.. Ever since i watched 881 last year , i have been looking forward to Royston Tan's next piece.. Well, i guess tat his piece is different from the rest of the local movie directors.. 881 was one of the nominates in Oscars for foreign films :) This time round, i was not the only youngest member in the cinema .. 12 Lotus has a different story line from 881.. Yep , Ge Tai is still the main theme.. The hokkien songs are more modern than the ones in 881.. Mainly, 12 lotus is revolved ard being betrayed by love for money,moving on with life & letting go of the past.. I must say tat Mindee Ong , Qi Yi Wu & Liu Ling Ling have acted well .. The main character , Lian Hua has a tragic & horrible experience.. 'cos of tat incident , she is being traumatised.. She stays at home for 20 over years !! Not meeting anyone only Astroboy who comes by to visit her.. During those 20 years, she has nitemares and has mental disability.. There is a scene which she scolded & beat the fan as she tot they are the bad pple.. The aunties in the cinema laughed .. As for myself, i didn't laugh .. On the other hand, my heart goes out to her.. I find it rather sad.. For a person being traumatised by a bad incident and still living in the past .. And not moving forward in life and letting go of the horrible stuff.. At tat moment, just felt tat life and human minds are just vulnerable.. Pple can just breakdown when they cannot take it or accept some stuff.. There is a dialogue in the show which is so true .. Human beings are complicated beings.. Sometimes we are happy , sometimes we are sad.. Without pain , there is no love.. Without love , there's no pain.. Kudos to Royston Tan for another great movie ! :)
