The most popular phrases nowadays start with the letter , R – Recession , R- Retrenchment , R – Restructuring .. Haiz.. The financial news seem to be getting worse & worse.. At leat US govt is going to bail Citigroup out.. Hmm.. I’m seriously lost now.. I dun even know wat to do from next week onwards when temp assignment ends.. Hmm.. maybe I have already gotten used to this lifestyle.. Yet, this is not I wanna do.. Maybe I should start doing something & not moping ard.. Hmm.. Still trying to be positive .. I keep telling myelf everyday tat a least I’m still healthy an I dun have a family to feed ..Yep, health = wealth :) Just leave it to God ….

Recently, SMU students are going to start a campaign of not allowing office workers to chope seats at foodcourt with tissue packet.. Do u think tat it’s feasible ? Personally, I think that using tissue packet to chope seat has become Singapore’s special culture which u can’t find it elsewhere, just like only singlish lah Maybe these students have not stepped into working world yet.. They do not know the rush & madness during lunch hour.. Within an hour, one has to look for seat, buy food , wait in the q then have lunch.. AND food court, cooffeshop, fast food outlets are VERY crowded during lunch hours.. For them , in unis, there are many food outlets ,except for SIM, I miss SIM foodie! :) , to choose from.. Lecture timings are flexible depending on which time slot u choose.. So, lunch time can be longer than an hour.. Oh well, I hope tat this unique habit will not be diminished ;p

An interesting article to ponder upon..

Louis Vitton and the Stock Market...

One day, a plain-looking man came with a pretty-looking OL (Office Lady) to the LV store in Causeway Bay ( Hong Kong Island ). He chose an LV bag worth HKD65,000 for the OL. When it came time to pay, the man took out a checkbook and wrote out a check. The salesperson was hesitant because the couple hadn't shopped there before.

The man discerned what the salesperson was thinking and he said calmly: "I sense that you are concerned that this check may bounce, right? Today is Saturday and the banks are closed. Let me suggest that I leave the check and the handbag here. When the check clears on Monday, you can deliver the handbag to this lady. How about that? The salesperson was reassured and gladly accepted the suggestion. In addition, he waived the delivery charges. He promised that he would personally make sure that this gets done.

On Monday, the salesperson took the check to the bank. The check bounced! The irate salesperson called up the client, who told him: "What is the big deal? Neither you nor I have suffered any loss. Last Saturday night, I went to bed with that girl already! Oh, by the way, I thank you for your cooperation."

This story reveals the nature of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. When people have high hopes for huge future returns, they lower their guard about the potential risks. This pretty girl thought that the HKD 65,000 LV bag was going to come home on Monday, and so she lowered her guard. Therefore, she believed that her investment in the ONS (=one night stand) was worth it even though it was based upon huge and highly uncertain risks.

Investment companies are great with packaging high return (but high risk) deals. The stock market speculators are like this pretty woman.

Last night , met Candice for dinner at bugis.. The dinner was fun except for the guy who sat next to us.. When his food arrived, he just stretched his arm to get the chilli flakes without saying ‘ excuse me’.. It was as if we were not there !! Then I passed the cheese to him and Candice passed the salt to him .. He just kept quiet without a word of thanks ! Oh my goodness ! Such a ungentlemanly behaviour ! >.<>

Tots to ponder..
Thursday, November 13, 2008

Stacy emailed this to me this morning.. Some tot to ponder upon..

1. The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings
but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

2. We spend more, but have less. We buy more, but enjoy less.

3. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but
less time.

4. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less
judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less
wellness.

5. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too
little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too
tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

6. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk
too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to
make a living, but not a life.

7. We've added years to life not life to years.

8. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble
crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space
but not inner space.

9. We've done larger things, but not better things.

10. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.

11. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

12. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less.

13. We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

14. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more
copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

15. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and
small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

16. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier
houses, but broken homes.

17. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway
morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do
everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

18. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing
in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you,
and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to
just hit delete.

19. Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are
not going to be around forever.

20. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe,
because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

21. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that
is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost
a cent.

22. Remember, to say, "I love you" to your loved ones, but most of all
mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep
inside of you.

23. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that
person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak
and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Wat's impt to u ?
Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Tmr is a big day for USA.. They are going to elect a new president.. Obama vs McCain.. Who will win ? Actually, personally I hope Obama will win as it will be unconventional win .. Haha.. Anyway , whoever wins the election will have to clear up the mess.. The economic crisis is getting more depressing.. MM Lee said tat it will take ard 3-5 years for the economy to recover.. :( So sian.. Oh well.. Have to stay positive.. Have u watched the latest HPB’s ad on mental health? Their tagline is “ Healthy relationship, healthy mind” The ad with the monkeys.. It’s so cute.. Well.. the economic crisis can make one feeling depressed etc.. Wat’s impt to u ? Maybe at this point of time, money is impt to a lot of pple esp those who have bad debts or have no jobs.. Yep, money may be impt to me but it is not everything .. Money can’t buy things like love, friendship etc.. U can’t just buy someone’s feeling, rite? Mental health is as equally impt as physical health.. If one has tons of money but is a sad person .. isn’t it more sad & depressing ? During this economic crisis , it’s best to look of the bright side of life..
